Once upon a time.... decorating used to be reserved for the well heeled debutante set. An illusive subculture obsessed with obtaining the 'hottest" hues of the season, or the trendiest new furnishings. Those "haves" who revelled in rubbing the newest home gadgets in the "have-nots" faces. But those days are gone....sort of. I'm sure you've noticed that with all the knowledge abounding on the internet, as well as the popularity of home decor and DIY shows, everyone and their neighbor's friend's cousin is taking a more active part in expressing their style through their decor. You can order whatever suits your fancy on the internet, without visiting one showroom, or antiques market. You can be a tastemaker without hiring a full time interior designer.
As our debut article on this subject, we'd like to present one of the most minute and overlooked decor items. The napkin ring. Funny thing about this often times forgotten gem of decor is the fact that it could easily be that one item that your guests come in closest contact with. Oh, You hadn't though about that? Well, if you are going for a sit-down or formal meal for your soiree, your guests will [hopefully] sit down to a place setting topped or flanked by a napkin bound by a napkin ring. So the napkin ring is one of the first things they may see in front of them and when they are ready to lay the napkin in their lap, they will actually touch it. Close contact. They may look at much of your other decor around your home, but they will not hold these items in their hand. The only other place, where close contact abounds is the bathroom.
