So you are seeking a financial opportunity. Are you out of work? Do you have little time and even less money? Maybe you like to sell stuff. Maybe you manufacture your own items, either as a specialty artisan, or you contract a manufacturer. Maybe you are either just getting started or you already have a brick n mortar that is struggling. These are possibly catalysts that could get your ball rolling towards an online endeavor. Here are 4 reasons:

1) Minimal Risk

New businesses lose 10s of 1,000s of dollars every day, so the idea of starting something with little risk can get you get on the starting line even without much investment capital. The tens or even 100s of 1000s required to start a traditional brick and mortar filter out the majority of 'would be' business owners.

2) Family Obligations

If you have young children at home, or even older ones, you may find yourself constantly stretching both your time, energy, and dollars. You may have older relatives, or disabled family depending on you. An online business venture could possibly free up some family time, or at least bring in additional household income.

3) Unemployment

You may find your self unemployed or underemployed and suddenly realize you can't depend on any one job. If you are one of those on extended unemployment bout over the past several years, you may have come to some hard conclusions about your future and your value in the traditional workplace. Seeking out independent or at minimum independent contractor positions could be economical and more efficient in creating income, as you won't have to drive around town wasting gas, time, and other resources, attempting face time with potential employers. While you seek a 'job', you can already be on your path to some form of income. Instead of being locked into an existence of waiting on that phone call, yoou can try to take matters in your own hands.

4) You have something to sell

You have in your possesion, or you are making some product that you are excited about. You want to share it with the world, but you don't know anything about online selling. Well, there's a plethora of online marketplaces out in cyber world. Be cautious, because just as there are many different people in the world, the same x1000 goes for the internet. For every great marketplace, there are many more bad ones. For several good customers, there's a few frauds in the bunch. There's a learning curve, so you want to read all you can before diving in. Once you're in, you want to keep reading and learning. Visit forums. Ask other online business owners. Check around and see what other people are doing and talking about. And most importantly - learn from your mistakes. The worst thing you can do for your progress is to repeat the same mistakes...over and over.
