Food Fix: Making Bare Cupboard Meals [Like Canned Fish Tacos]

So.. I'm sure you're wondering - like what is a bare cupboard meal? First let's clarify what this "simplified" dish entail. It is a reasonably edible meal or side item for a meal, which is created quickly with no time and reduced or limited ingredients. This is a form of creative cooking that should be part of every human being's kitchen repertoire. Especially nowadays as natural disasters, war conflicts, and all types of surprises and challenges loom over our society. Having a flexible mind and nimble finger while preparing food could be paramount to you and your family's survival, not just a simple case of a delicious meal.

Building your knowledge concerning what edibles grow freely in your backyard and what poisonous plants or plant parts to avoid is not only dinner party fodder, but good sense. We find ourselves fusing notes from the past with modes of the future, from the paleo diet and aztec substenance to solar ovens and space food. A message of warning to the most experimental cooks " Look before you leap" or get the facts before you try something toooo new.

One day, a while back, I could have made a dangerous mistake, exploring as I like to do. I hate to waste, so I thought to use the stalk of the organic carrots that I was cooking, to make a broth... and I did. I researched after the meal, finding out that all leaves aren't created equal. For example, had I used tomato stems and leaves for a broth, we could have ended up with a horrible stomach issues and nervous shakiness. A chemical named “Glycoalkaloid” is found in the tomato plants stems and leaves.
